Evolution of Paddy drying

Drying is a very important step in the processing of rice. Today the paddy is dried using paddy dryers which are sophisticated and built after proper research to ensure uniform drying of the rice. With the success of the paddy dryer, many manufacturers have emerged in the market. However, one must carefully choose the rice mill dryer plant after complete research as to the technology used, the material used and the prices so quoted.

Traditional ways of drying-

Sun drying, hot air drying, and oven drying are all common drying procedures that were followed before the latest machinery came in. it was performed for a very long period but came with many disadvantages-

·         They frequently result in nutritional loss as well as product texture and structure degradation.

·         In some circumstances, hot air drying causes the dried product to discolour, making it less appealing to consumers.

·         Furthermore, traditional drying procedures take an extremely long period to finish. As a result, it uses a lot of energy before it dries completely.

·         Traditional sun-drying is often associated with a variety of environmental contaminants such as insects, pests, and pollution.

These problems were tackled and a rice dryer machine was introduced which provided the following benefits-

·         They did not lead to loss of nutrients.

·         They operate on low energy consumption machinery thus saving energy.

·         They ensure that the paddy is uniformly dried and that there is no discolouration.

·         They have a mild effect on the texture and quality of paddy and thus result in high-quality rice after processing.

However, some tips must be kept in mind while paddy drying in a rice mill plant-

·         Allow exhaust air to easily depart the drying bin by opening the bin exit windows. The dryer must ensure that the air is circulated properly across all the grains and that there is an even distribution of air.

·         To establish the heater's maximum temperature setting, measure the relative humidity and temperature of the ambient air.

·         Increased airflow is one strategy to shorten drying time, however, it may not be the most energy-efficient method of drying. It varies according to the equipment and its power capacity.

Jyoti Group is one manufacturer that provides a very fine quality rice mill dryer with stainless steel belt conveyors to make the whole drying process systematic and efficient.

Various features in rice mill dryer as provided by Jyoti group-

·         A robust design-The first in-first-out grain flow is handled by multi-rotor discharge gates. The speed of the unloading system can be adjusted automatically if a variable-speed motor is available. This allows the user to adjust and modify the conditions according to their requirements.

·         The driers are made of high-grade stainless steel and heavy-duty steel construction, ensuring a strong and compact design- Heavy-duty construction ensures long-term performance and low maintenance. Leg extensions for dryers are available and can be readily installed as needed to provide additional clearance under the dryer. Thus, the needs of the users are well taken care of.

·         Grain air ducts and the best airflow through the drier. The stainless steel air duct is designed to deliver equal and even hot air to the dryer turns throughout the drying process.

Things need to change over time and people need to adopt new technology. The same happened with rice dryers wherein new types of rice dryer plant have come up and they have made the drying process simpler and better. For  more info: https://jyotigroup.net/
